Bletchley and District Co-op informstheir members that no definite arrangements have yet been announced by the authorities for rationing schemes for groceries, milk and coal. 'Wait for official instructions.' 23 February 1943 Co-op Education Committee announce the second session of the Art Class has restarted in the Co-op hall on Tuesday evenings. There are limited places for new students. 2 March 1943 The Rt. Hon. Lord Wootton presented on Monday to representatives of the Bletchley and District Co-op at the Holborn Restaurant the medal won by their entry in the national bread-making competition. 5 October 1943 Public lectures on local government have been arranged by the Co-op Education Committee in the Co-op Hall beginning Thursday 14th October at 7.30pm including on December 9th 'Post-War development of Bletchley' by Mr A Bates, the Engineer and surveyor of BUDC. May 30 1959 Co-op sales and 'trade recession' The 300th quarterly report of the Bletchley Co-operative Society's Committee shows that sales for the quarter were £297, 958, an increase of £12, 167... ...we would draw your attention to the central premises, which have been extensively remodelled and decorated and are now undoubtedly the finest stores in North Bucks. 7 March 1969 Stamps Boost Coop Sales The change to dividend by stamps contributed greatly to the increase in sales during the year, say the Directors of the Milton Keynes Cooperative Society in their annual report. Nearly 49 million stamps were issued during the half year. Fashion’s many moods and colours through to Summer were displayed to advantage in Bletchley’s Wilton Hall... The MK Co-op Society’s annual fashion show was this year arranged on a much larger scale and the 650 free admission tickets for each evening had all been given out. Val Buckly was compere and modelling about 100 different outfits were past and present staff, Mrs Chris Wears, Mrs Janet Humbey, Miss Penny Mead, Miss Sandra Risbridge, Mrs Ivy Fountain and Mrs Irene Sergeant. Children’s clothes were modelled by Mandy Bullock and Eileen Pahnke. |
